Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess: "Will you marry me?"
The Princess said: "NO!!!"
And the Prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
The End

Songs of the Dying Earth
a collection of stories by various writers in imitation of Jack Vance is not embarassingly bad but it is not good. Nothing like Jack Vance and certainly not worth the $90.00+ delivered. I almost gave up at the travesty by Mike Resnick who is a very good writer in his own style. Glen Cook was no better. There is only one Jack Vance.

A Quote
from Thomas DeQuincy that I like:
If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he comes next to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination.
