I am depressed. I could handle Cruz losing -- in fact, I am proud of him and I think he did a great job. I could even handle Trump winning. Admittedly, it's tough to see someone of such poor character succeed, but it happens everyday.
I'm depressed about Patterico. He posted a lot less after Twitter came along, and now he has a new Jounolist-style toy to play with, so most blogging will be limited to posting the latest Patterico-list pronouncement. Believe me, I get the appeal of eliminating the annoying commenters from the serious discussions, but I'm afraid this new venture will become an echo chamber. If you want to avoid the trolls and jerks, moderate and ban them or admit you don't want to blog anymore. Frankly, I think that's what's really happening and I don't blame him for being burned out on blogging.
And I sincerely fear the response to lists like this. Conservatives have been targeted, and these nominees will have no fear in continuing the targeting.
I have always liked the comment threads more than the posts. Except when you were posting, of course. I miss the Texas posts.
What attracted me in the beginning was his talents for provoking a discussion. We have lost a lot of good commenters but I think we still have a decent bunch.
I am not in any of his other groups -- I have no Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. He has already been a target of SWATting and lawsuits from Kimberlin and Naffe (the second because of his association with O'Keefe). If he wants to live dangerously ....
Absolutely, I am not second-guessing his choices, only regreting their impact on me and others who enjoy his comment section. But all good things end and I don't want to spend the rest of my days talking to ropelight, papertiger and happyfeet while the adults have a private party.
Heh! That's because you're a lady and don't talk back to them the way I do. I think it keeps me young to talk the way I did in sophomore year in high school once in a while. ^_^
He lost commenters who are lawyers and that hurt. Lawyers will discuss hard topics without getting too mad because we are trained to see both sides and to play Devil's advocate. It was better when there were more lawyers.
I comment at SayUncle on occasion, but mainly lurk. His threads are very civil. Nowhere else since last June -- I got tired of Instapundit and got banned at Popehat.
I reread your comments and you are right that P has a talent for promoting interesting discussions. That's a hard thing to do and he is a smart guy. I am grateful I found his blog and got to "meet" so many fine people, especially you and your sweet daughter.

Silly me. There are so many fun things to do in the world (including come here!) that I'm not going to worry about finding a new place to visit.

Do you comment any other places than there and here?

Men can get mad but they get over it, at least most do. Women agonize over too much emotion and we have problems getting over it.
Banned at Popehat? That's crazy. I didn't realize they of all people were touchy about speech, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Ken White is not as tolerant as Patterico. I'm not complaining. His site, his rules.

Back at you, DRJ.
I was right. That's all he's thinkihg about now. Kudos to him for finding a new cause. Now I need to find one, too. Best wishes, nk.
