The Pain Comes Later

Have you ever been seriously cut? It doesn't hurt. [Update: I should have added "at first"] The nerve is severed and the shock has numbed it. It is much later, as it is healing, that it hurts. The brain, also, takes a while to understand what has been lost.

No, it always hurts. I've been cut, deep. I don't think the wound will ever. Will it?

Are you kidding me?? It hurts like hell immediately!

I can still remember cutting a Mars bar in half when I was about 12 and taking my finger with it. I went into shock for about 2 nanoseconds and then screamed so loud the school came to a standstill!

Maybe that's why I hate pain so much ... :)
