I Went Half Blind

in my right, dominant, eye, four days ago.

It does not bother me. So far, I have had a very full and very good life.

I have not killed a person, not written a book, not flown to the moon.

I have loved a woman, made a daughter, reduced prisoners’ sentences and helped save some from execution.

We are all prisoners of life, in a way. My chains were made of gold.
